October 4th 2007 Annual Market Report 2006: Telecommunications and Broadcasting Sectors
The Authority has published its first Annual Market Report for the year 2006. This report presents information on markets within the telecommunications and broadcasting sectors which includes data on subscriptions, gross revenues and tariffs of the relevant markets. The data is also used by the Authority to assess and monitor markets, and inform policy decisions that will facilitate the orderly development of markets within these sectors.
Subsequent to two (2) rounds of public consultation in accordance with the Authority’s Procedures for Public Consultation, and consistent with the provision of the Telecommunications Act 2001, the Telecommunications Authority of Trinidad and Tobago hereby publishes its Spectrum Plan for the Accommodation of Broadband Wireless Access Services. This document identifies the various Broadband Wireless Access (BWA) technologies and their respective frequency bands of operation deployed globally and, in particular, by ITU-R Region 2 countries, taking into consideration the interest expressed locally. In addition, this document identifies the services which can be offered via these technologies (i.e. high speed Internet access and wireless cable television), an examination of the spectrum which can be made available and the recommended approach to the licensing of the spectrum allocated to BWA services.
